Mobile App Development Cost in India & UAE (2026)

· 9 min read

Search "mobile app development cost" and you get calculators that ask twenty questions and then quote anything from ₹50,000 to ₹50 lakh. The range is real, but it is not random: three decisions explain almost all of it. Here are our published app prices in rupees for India and in dirhams for the UAE, the decisions that move them, and the costs that arrive after launch.

The Short Answer

For a small or mid-sized business, a working app costs ₹40,000–₹5,00,000 in India and AED 3,500–35,000 in the UAE. Where you land depends on whether you need an app-store app at all, how many screens and user roles it has, and how much backend sits behind it.

App type India (₹) UAE (AED) Typical timeline
Progressive web app (installable from the browser, works offline) ₹40,000 – ₹1,00,000 AED 3,500 – 7,500 3–6 weeks
Cross-platform Android + iOS app with backend and admin panel ₹1,50,000 – ₹5,00,000 AED 11,000 – 35,000 8–16 weeks
Marketplace or multi-app platform (customer, partner and operator apps) Priced after a paid discovery phase 4 months +

The AED column is priced for the UAE market, not converted from rupees, and it is ours: a Dubai-based agency with Dubai rent will usually quote well above it. Get three written quotes against the same scope before you compare anyone, including us.

Decide This First: Web App or Store App?

The single biggest cost decision is whether you need to be in the Play Store and App Store at all. A progressive web app (PWA) installs from the browser, puts an icon on the home screen, works offline and can send notifications on Android. For booking, ordering, loyalty, field-staff and internal tools, it does the job at roughly a third of the price, and there is no store review between you and an update.

A store app earns its extra cost when you genuinely need something a browser cannot do well: deep camera or Bluetooth use, background location, heavy offline data, or customers who will only trust you if they find you in the store. We build store apps cross-platform (one codebase for Android and iOS), which is how SMEs avoid paying for the same app twice.

The honest default for most SMEs is the cheaper option. If an agency recommends separate native Android and iOS apps for a booking or ordering business, ask what the second codebase buys you that a cross-platform build or a PWA does not. You will pay for that answer every year, not just once.

What Actually Moves the Price

Once the app type is settled, four factors explain nearly every rupee and dirham of difference between two quotes:

Screens and flows

Each flow (sign-up, booking, checkout, refunds) is design, build and testing

User roles

A customer app is one product; adding staff, partner and admin views multiplies it

Backend and admin panel

Where the data lives, who can change it, and the reports you need from it

Integrations

Payment gateways, WhatsApp, maps, SMS, accounting exports: each one is real work

Notice what is not on that list: the number of features in a brochure. A clear scope of ten screens is cheaper and faster than a vague one of five, because vague scopes get re-built. This is also why we fix a price only after a written scope: anyone quoting a flat number before understanding your flows is quoting fiction.

India: What Each Price Tier Buys

At ₹40,000–₹1,00,000 you get a PWA with your branding, the core customer flow (browse, book or order, pay), a simple admin panel and an installable icon. This is where restaurants, salons, clinics, coaching institutes and service businesses usually belong.

At ₹1,50,000–₹5,00,000 you get a store app on Android and iOS with a proper backend: accounts and logins, UPI and card payments through a gateway like Razorpay, push notifications, an admin panel with reports, and the store submission done for you. The lower end is a focused single-purpose app; the upper end is an e-commerce or booking app with several user roles.

E-commerce apps deserve a separate note, because "an app like Amazon" is the most expensive sentence in app development. The storefront is the cheap part. The cost is in catalogue management, stock, delivery rules, returns and refunds. If you already sell through a website, a PWA on top of it is often the right first step, and our website cost guide covers that side.

The UAE: AED Prices and What to Insist On

The same tiers apply in the UAE at AED 3,500–7,500 for a PWA and AED 11,000–35,000 for a cross-platform store app. Three things are worth paying for in the UAE that Indian buyers can often skip:

  • Arabic and right-to-left layout. Mirroring an interface properly is more than translating strings: navigation, icons, numbers and forms all flip. Plan for it from day one; adding it later costs more. (This site runs in English and Arabic, so we have done the work, not just read about it.)
  • A UAE payment gateway. Card payments and Apple Pay are expected; settle in AED with a gateway that supports UAE businesses.
  • WhatsApp as a real channel. In the Gulf, many customers would rather message than fill a form. Build it into the app's contact and order flows, not into a buried button.

Working remotely across the 1.5-hour time difference between Chennai and Dubai is routine for us; how we invoice UAE clients in AED is on our UAE page.

The Costs After Launch

The build quote is not the whole bill. Budget for these from the start:

Recurring cost What to expect
Apple Developer Program USD 99 a year, needed for the App Store
Google Play developer account USD 25, one time
Hosting and backend services Small for a typical SME app; grows with users, images and notifications
Maintenance and OS updates Every year Android and iOS change; a common planning figure is 15–20% of the build cost a year

A PWA avoids the two store fees entirely, which is one more reason it is the sensible first version for many businesses. Whatever you build, make sure the store accounts, the source code and the hosting are in your name, not the agency's.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

Write down three things before you talk to anyone: who uses the app (customers, staff, partners), the one flow that must work perfectly on launch day, and how you will know the app is paying for itself. With that, any good team can give you a fixed price instead of an estimate that grows.

Our own published starting points are ₹40,000 for a PWA and ₹1,50,000 for a cross-platform store app, fixed only after a written scope. The proof is the work: we built the operator console, partner app and tenant app of a property-operations platform, and a payroll product with self-service on the phone. Both are on our work page. If you would rather talk it through first, message us on WhatsApp with your three answers and we will tell you which tier you are in, even if the answer is "you don't need an app yet".
