A website is not finished at launch. Software needs updates, hosting renews every year, forms break when a plugin changes, and someone has to fix things when they do. This guide breaks down what website maintenance costs in India and the UAE in 2026, what a maintenance plan should include, and what you can safely skip.
The Short Answer
Every website has two kinds of running cost: fixed costs (domain and hosting) and maintenance work (updates, backups, fixes and changes). For a small business site:
| Cost | India | UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Domain renewal | ₹800 – ₹1,500 a year | AED 50 – 120 a year |
| Hosting | ₹3,000 – ₹10,000 a year | AED 300 – 900 a year |
| SSL certificate | Free on almost every host; do not pay for basic SSL | |
| Maintenance plan (agency) | Commonly ₹3,000 – ₹10,000 a month | Commonly AED 500 – 1,500 a month |
The maintenance-plan figures are typical market quotes published by agencies in India and Dubai in 2026; business-critical and bilingual sites in Dubai are often quoted AED 1,500–4,000 a month. Treat any figure as meaningless until you see exactly what it covers.
What a Maintenance Plan Should Include
Updates
Core software, themes and plugins, tested before they go live
Backups
Automatic, stored off the server, and actually restorable
Security and uptime
Monitoring, malware scans and an alert when the site goes down
Small changes
Text, photo and price updates within an agreed number of hours
Ask two questions of any plan: how fast will you respond when the site is down, and how many hours of changes are included each month. Two agencies can quote the same monthly fee for very different scopes; those two answers tell you which one is cheaper.
Why Costs Differ So Much
Three things decide what your site needs:
- How the site is built. A WordPress site with twenty plugins needs regular, careful updates; a lean custom or static site needs far fewer. Fewer moving parts means less to maintain.
- What it does. A brochure site can go weeks without attention. An online store, a booking system or a site that takes leads needs monitoring every day, because a broken checkout or form costs money immediately.
- How often you change it. If you update menus, prices or offers every week, budget for those changes; if the site rarely changes, you mostly pay for safety.
The cheapest maintenance is a site built not to need much. When you are choosing a developer, ask how many plugins and third-party services the site will depend on. Every one is a future update, a future conflict and a future security risk.
The UAE: What Adds Cost
Dubai maintenance quotes run higher than Indian ones for the same work, partly because of agency overheads and partly because of real extra scope: bilingual English and Arabic content that has to be updated in both languages, higher expectations for response times, and hosting in the region where that matters to the business. If your site is English-only and informational, a basic plan is usually enough.
Can You Do It Yourself?
For a simple site, partly. You can renew the domain, keep hosting paid, and make text changes through a content management system. What owners usually should not do alone is update plugins on a live site without a backup, or fix security problems. A middle path many small businesses use: handle content changes in-house, and pay for updates, backups and emergency fixes.
How We Handle It
Every website we build includes one year of hosting and fixes, and our Premium package includes three years of hosting and maintenance. After that you can renew maintenance with us or take the code elsewhere: the domain, hosting account and code are in your name from day one. Our sites ship lean, with few plugins, so they need less maintenance in the first place.
